PoE classes and the 100-metre limit
Plan the complete Ethernet channel within its specified reach, usually up to 100 metres including patch cords and up to 90 metres of fixed cabling. Check the device power requirement, PoE budget and route. Longer runs need a new design with your IT or security partner; an extender or added switch is not assumed to solve every situation.
The required PoE type and power follow from the selected device datasheet and total switch budget. We match cable length, conductor size, bundling and connectors to those requirements. Your IT or security partner selects and configures the equipment.
For outdoor cameras we use outdoor-rated, UV-resistant cable, or we take the run outside through protected trunking. We allow for a watertight entry and for earthing. The routing runs along the ceiling, the facade or through trunking, finished to suit the surroundings.
We install the infrastructure up to the patch cabinet or the NVR rack. We can mount and connect as quoted; your security installer configures the system. Want the camera circuits kept separate from the data circuits in the cabinet? That is possible, we reserve a dedicated panel row for them. Planning and coordination run through you as the client or MSP.

For IP cameras we use Cat6 or Cat6A UTP cables. These support PoE (Power over Ethernet) so the camera gets power and data via one cable. For outdoor runs we use outdoor-rated cables with extra protection.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) means an IP camera receives both data and power via one UTP cable. This saves pulling separate power cables and makes placement flexible. You do need a PoE switch or injector to supply the power.
The maximum distance for Cat6/Cat6A cabling is 100 meters (from switch to camera). For longer distances we use PoE extenders or an additional switch along the way. We always advise on feasible distances during design.
Yes, we also pull outdoor cables. We use outdoor-rated Cat6/Cat6A with UV-resistant jacket and extra protection against moisture. Cables are neatly concealed in conduits, pipes or installed underground.
Camera count depends on the total switch PoE budget and maximum power per port and camera, including heaters or motors. Your security partner selects the equipment and budget; we match the physical cable runs to that.
New cabling includes a functional connection test. We agree the labels and handover documents your project needs beforehand, such as a cable plan, patch list or photos. Only the items included in the quote are supplied. Electrical standards testing of Cat6/Cat6A and a per-link report are separate work; equipment, test limits, calibration and report format must be confirmed in advance.

Which cable do you use for IP cameras?
For IP cameras we use Cat6 U/UTP as a minimum. It is suitable for PoE, delivers plenty of bandwidth and works up to 100 metres per run. For heavier PoE or longer distances we recommend Cat6A.
What is PoE camera cabling?
PoE (Power over Ethernet) means the camera gets both data and power over the same UTP cable. There is no need for a separate power lead or a socket next to the camera.
Do you also install CCTV/security camera cabling?
Yes. We install cabling for IP cameras and CCTV/security camera systems: we pull the camera cable, fit the connection points and hand over neatly up to the patch cabinet. We can mount and connect as quoted; your security installer configures.
Can one UTP cable carry camera and power?
Yes, with PoE a single UTP cable carries both the camera image and the power. That saves a separate power cable and makes the installation simpler and cheaper.
